One day in October

Uugh...the past few days were total nightmare... i was like in a badly done trashy reality show. No script, no cameras and no art direction. It started with my very first hung over on weekend, continued with the big move from Kelana Jaya back to Cyber and the complicated VISA procedure that emptied my pocket as well as energy. Things were really messy. I made multiple trips from school to TOA just to settle the never ending Student visa. Theres a lot of things i haven't done yet except making an ass out of myself. I shall update this blog after I finish writing the dreaded internship report. Last but not least, a big THANK YOU to Rapp Collins (http://rapp.com/)
The past two months internship had been truly a fun and unforgettable experience. hi 5!

I hate the rain and early morning bus ride. If u are five feet tall, feel free to smell arm pits and sweats, get crushed inside billion of sweaty people and then get elbowed on ur head. I effin hate the first day of the week! What a horrible way to start a week. I have the sourest mood on the building now.

Rec (2007) Spanish, nicer poster!

Why remake such a good movie?!!! and within a year?!!
Rec is filmed with similar style ala "Blair With Project", where the audience got the first person view of the event. It is like watching a vacation video except this time its horror. Anyhoo, Rec is not your typical zombie-disease-infection movie. It is more like the interaction and reaction you get when you are trapped inside a house with a zombie/monster like creature. Unlike other zombie/living dead movies, the hero and heroine in this movie do not act like a damn superhero with unlimited bullets and guns or power to jump fences and all, uninjured. The characters in this movie behaved naturally. They screamed a bloody lot and panicked. They do not kick ass at all. Unlike some movies, the hero or heroine appeared too controlled. The best part about this movie is that the first person view with the cam recorder do not make me get motion sickness... unlike "Cloverfield". (I puked at the end of the movie)

So the other day Ron and i went to watch movies and we got to see "Watchmen" trailer. The song is bloody awesome. It incorporated with the scenes so nicely.

I thought it was a good idea to snap pictures today... (do something productive) rather than moping around for the whole day. So i took out my SLR. I returned to my room after snapping pictures from the balcony. To my surprise, i found an itsy-bitsy spider crawling near the wardrobe. Then i took some picture of it...

Anyhoo, im back from a long holiday. There is an electricity shortage going on in indo. Not good at all. PLN (penjahat listrik negara) should be locked up in jail. grrrr... Some pictures from back home,

I was in time to watch Barbie meet and greet in the mall. They are promoting the latest Barbie movie, "Barbie Mariposa" which strangely rhyme with "menopausa"
My delicate eyes are assaulted by pink blindness. The whole stage are decorated with pink and glittery ornaments. Theres like hundreds of kids there, coaxing their parents to buy some barbie merchandise (which are highly overpriced)
When the model wearing fake blond wig appear, the kids went wild screaming BaaaarrBBiiiiieee~~~~~ zeez... parents, dont ya know barbie is the root of plastic surgery? seriously, my ear almost went deaf. I'm truly amused. I can see one day in the future barbie will run for election.

Theres something i found disturbing about this poster...

School will start this Monday. I'm living in a money sucking hostel, it is run by money thirsty limpet. No kidding! Everything evolves around money. Sucks sucks sucks!

One day in June

My room looks like a construction site. Nearly poke my eye out with a screw driver. Damn Ikea rack... Under autopilot mode for the rest of the day....like an amoeba moping around. Have to move out everything by end of this month. I hope an alien will abduct me... I haven't clean Hamster's A cage. Still in grieving stage. Somehow i'm responsible indirectly. I'll update this blog after i sort things out.

Simone lives with her mom and about to go on a field trip to Austria. Inside the bus, she told her friend that they are all her dream and the bus will eventually crashed and killed them all. Been a bit unmotivated lately, things are getting awry. I hope its getting better soon. Worrying a lot. Still unemployed. Must quickly find job before July. Learned a valuable lesson, never ever argue with dear wise mum and smart-ass sis. They are always right.

Wu Xia Phien and I

Theres a cinema in front of our house in Indo. I still remember almost every weekend, our dad 'll bring us there to watch movies. He'd buy us some snacks and mentos bar. We just ve to cross the road to go there. The cinema is still operating until today.

I watched quite a lot of Chinese classic movies those days, the "Wuxia phien" or the costume dramas/action/martial art movies. e.i. The condor heroes, Once Upon a Time in China, Swordsman, Bride With White Hair, Judge Bao, A Chinese Ghost Story, Butterfly lovers, Taichi master and etc. I only remember this few. The tvs also showed quite a lot, of course dubbed with bahasa indo, e.i. "Pendekar Ulat Bulu" (the caterpillar warrior) and "Pendekar Harum" (fragranced warrior)...... sounds odd..
but nvm... i remembered watching those series every afternoon after tuition class. I was rewatching some of those old classic wuxia from Crunchyroll. I totally enjoyed them!!!! its awesome! no CG effects and still do wonders! compared to the wuxia movies from this era, i.e. "The Promise"... i thought that movie is super horrible... too much dose of CG, horrible costumes and crappy story line.


Ah.. not to forget, we have the horror genre too. The chinese vampire! hahaha! love those guys!

Anyhoo, "Xiau au jiang fu" or "Swordsman" series is my most favourite wuxia movie of all time. its like the Chinese version of Lord of The Ring. The movie's particular theme song is just classic and timeless. You guys should be familiar with this song.
Plus plus, this move has the greatest villain of the kung fu world, the "Dong Fang Bu Bai!!!"

gotta save this blog before it turns into a movie review blog...

Movie blurts... #2

This time i promise my review would be deeper, smarter and have more than one sentence. Ok, this week i present you Nim's Island.



For me, this movie is like a mixture of Home Alone, Cast Away, Robinson Crusoe meets Mac Gyver and the reality show, Survivor, Nim's Island. Overall not bad, but not good either. A tad boring and anti climatic. It feels like its not finished. The first 3/4 of the movie it build up the audience's anticipation and curiosity. Then the rest 1/4 until the end are blaaargh.... Some things are left unexplained. The movie left the audience wanting more but then dumped disappointed when the credits rolled over. The screen time between Abigail and Jodie Foster are really little. Its a disappointment because i want to see more action going on between these two characters. I get that the message of the movie is to become your own real life hero. In contrary, the Jodie Foster character didn't do anything heroic and great enough to support the message. On top of that, Abigail's dialogue is like too scripted already.


During the whole movie i was distracted with things like, "Abigail, wear your shoe when in the forest", "Stop touching those worms", "Gerard Butler in wet shirt", "Apple Mac Book!" and etc. The only forte of this movie is the excellent cinematography and the clever use of animation in certain scenes. I really like the story book animation and the opening scene. In conclusion, its a great execution but poor screenplay. Then again, i'm not the right target audience. Its for younger generation. But then again, i'd pay just to watch Gerard Butler and Jodie Foster. Its very rare to see Jodie Foster acted so goofy and hilarious. Anyway, there are some sweet and funny parts in this film too which i found endearing.

1) My Blueberry Nights (Wong Kar Wai) 2007, Norah Jones, Jude Law, Natalie Portman n Rachel Wiez.

Cal, you have to watch this, Wong Kar Wai directed the film. the colors and lightning is so his style.

Shouldn't watch this in library... =.='' ay ay... explicit contents. But have to praise the actors, their acting are brilliant. The way the story are told one after another is interesting. You can see the previous character 'll influence the next.



3) Misery (Rob Reiner) 1990 adaptation from Stephen King's novel

KATHY BATES I LOOOOVVVEEEEE YYYYOOOUUUUUUU!!!!!~~~ this is kinda similar to "Hard Candy", intense interaction between lead male and female actors. Kathy Bates totally pulled off the image of crazed obsessed fan. creepy but at the same time begs sympathy from the viewer. Kathy Bates simply magnificent!

I shall go back to work now... more reviews to come.

Basically i'm spreading some movie-love disease. but trust me, the titles mention are worth watching.

IF Pet Peeves

Next month i'll be graduating, and i'm in between either continuing studies or jump straight into the industry. I havent send out my resume yet, havent refine portfolio and havent even put it up on the world wide web yet. I also havent search which school to apply, when to apply, and how to apply yet. WHY??? WHY?? you'd probably kick my ass and yell "JUST do it already! why have i not been doing what i'm supposed to do by now? Today everything finally became crystal clear.

I'M SCARED shitless. the fact that i'll be finishing school soon is so overwhelming that i refused to acknowlege it. But then after some serious thinking and short talks with friends and lecturer, i realized that the core of the problem is my fear of growing up. Everything had been laid out and dictated to me all these years. Now is the time to move forward. Become an adult, take on the role and responsibility.
I also realize that i dont really want to continue to study, it is partly because of my selfish motive of buying time so i dont have to face the music so soon. Guess, cant do this anymore. Take the bull by the horns. Here i come FUTURE! Bring it ON.
I just hope that the person i am today can contribute to the person i am going to be in the future.(does that make sense) anyhoo, to end this heavy rant post, lets listen to Shannon Noll's - Shine.

but i like the poster layout. the way they arrange the names and coming soon into a border is brilliant. It looks like a scroll.

Jackie Chan and Jet Li! two brilliant martial artists, at least do some great movies like Heroes or House of Flying Daggers which show the ultimate kung fu beauty! not this commercialize type! aish aish!
