Worn

i have this shirt that ve seen better days... its from an uncle who visited Japan. i love it. i used to wear it every week and to everywhere. well except now, i only wear it at home. its ratty and a little tattered at the collar and decorated with holes, but it is super soft and comfortable. i have been wearing it for six years now. the threads are starting to fall apart and hanging for dear life. old washed up shirt rocks. i will continue to wear it until it turns to powder.

of horror films and no popcorn part II

a single mum/dad (recently divorced) moved away with his/her family to relocate in another isolated town filled with creepy old folks. dont forget the gas station. they always stop at a gas station to introduce themselves. then the attendant will spook them out with creepy tales regarding the town or about missing people. the gas station is a must in any horror flick. the family members normally consist of a sullen rebelious smart mouth teenage son/daughter and a younger kid or a pet. then they moved into a house (preferebly with dark past or an urban legend surrounding it). they find the house and neighbour blindingly suspicious but always choose to ignore the obvious signs. then the lil kid suddenly has "imaginary friend" and u can basically continue the rest. the plot sounds mighty familiar eh. a lot of mainstream horror movies used this type of storyline. below are indie horror movies that deserve limelight because they are so awesome!!!

Mulberry Street (2006) directed by Jim Mickle

the story began with an ex boxer living in a rundown apartment in Manhattan. we see his daily routine and the people living in the apartment with him. the sexy single mum who works at a pub to an old man living there for 35 years with an oxygen tank. the plot thickens when there is rats-gone-wild case where they start attacking human on subway. those bitten will get dizzy, sweaty and eventually turned into a mouse-like creature that feed on raw meat. unfortunately, they are not cute like mickey mouse.more people get bitten and turned into maniac mickey and the place turned chaotic. we latter found out that the hero's daughter returned from the army and planned to visit him. the government issue quarantine on the island and they are trapped with psychotic hungry mickeys. now, there are tons of movies with similar plot. but there is something im not gonna tell u here that is truly refreshing in this film that we don't see often. for one, the hero is unconventional. i think its still on youtube...

Fido (2006) directed by Andrew Currie

MUST WATCH. this one is a gem! if yer like Shaun of the Dead then u'll like Fido too. the story took place era 1950s vintage style. love it. this is more comedy than horror. the story began with a documentary retelling on how a radiation from outer space turned the dead on earth into zombies (in black and white!!! awesomeness) and how this Zomcon corporation controlled the zombies with a special collar. then turned them into domestic helpers for human. then having a zombie is equivalent with having pet. then theres Timmy. the only boy in the neighborhood without zombie because his dad has zombie phobia. his mum eventually get a zombie and they named him Fido. Timmy, a shy and only child befriends Fido. u really can just switch the zombie into a golden retriever here. at first this arrangement went well until, Fido eats Timmy's neighbor and got taken away by Zomcon. from there it spiraled into a wacky adventure. Timmy goes to save his zombie. this film is really different and we grew sympathetic with the zombies. unlike others living dead, the zombie here has the capability to feel. like Fido is protective of Timmy and defends him against the school bullies.

Splinter(2008)Directed by Toby Wilkins

escaped convicts, a young couple on camping trip, gas station and a deadly parasite.
thats all through out the entire film. and also the unlucky gas station attendant and police officer that appeared briefly only to get attack by the needle like parasite. this is more to disgusting than scary. pretty straight forward storyline. a couple on a camping trip got car jacked by escaped convicts. then they went to gas station (see, gas station is an essential ingredient) where the other convict got attacked by an infected victim (pricks coming out from the host body). the entire movie is about them protecting themselves inside the gas station. the special effect is really nice. the creature is terrifying. you can see hands and body parts crawling around. dont eat while watching this. yer'll loose ye appetite.

of horror films and no popcorn

short film of the month is back! between my internet being a giant turd and schools assignment being a pain, i couldn't update often. anyway, enjoy the movie below.

"The Ten Steps" 2004, by Brendan Muldowney

i like to watch horror movie sans the special effects and bodily fluid flowing with gross and glory. it is scarier this way with only the sound effect, lightning and the acting. bone chilling without showing the bogeyman.
